BRAZIL -- A 21-year-old Coatesville driver and an Indianapolis man were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 70, a mile east of State Road 59.

Indiana State Police troopers and Clay County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70, near the 24-mile marker, at about 2:50 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed an orange Honda passenger car, driven by Jerry E. Roberts, 50, Indianapolis, was westbound on I-70 and struck the rear of a 2002 Toyota Avalon, driven by Leigha N. Horvath, 21, of Coatesville.

Impact forced both cars off the north side of the roadway with the Roberts vehicle overturning.

Witnesses reported that the Roberts vehicle may have been speeding and weaving in and out of traffic prior to the crash, State Police noted.

Both drivers were transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment. Horvath was treated for neck and back pain, while Roberts incurred facial lacerations.

ISP Master Trooper Troy Cobb, who investigated the accident, cited Roberts for reckless driving, unsafe lane movement and following too close.

The interstate passing lane remained open, but the driving lane was closed for nearly one hour for crash investigation and clean-up.

Assisting Trooper Cobb were multiple other ISP troopers, Clay County Sheriff's deputies, Posey and Jackson Township Fire/Rescue and Trans Care EMS personnel.
