The Greencastle volleyball team got off to a slow start but dominated the final two and a half sets against visiting Turkey Run on Tuesday.

GHS (10-8, 2-0 WCC) won comfortably 25-16, 25-15, 25-15.

Junior Quinci Miller had 11 kills and four blocks to help lead the Tiger Cubs, but junior Taylor Stoltey controlled the action.

Stoltey had 32 assists and, at times, was a dominant server.

Stoltey won the final six points of set two, including a pair of aces, then opened at the line for set three and scored four more straight points for GHS.

Junior Jessica Lenihan had seven kills and junior Tera Amis had several nice plays near the net, GHS coach Maggie Walters said.

Miller had six points in the final set and senior Danielle Thomas had four.

Greencastle's next match is Thursday when it hosts rival North Putnam in a battle for the Putnam County Pride.

The Tiger Cubs beat North Putnam in the county tournament championship match and Walters said she is preparing for a motivated team to challenge her squad.

The two teams also sit atop the West Central Conference standings, making Thursday's match even more important.

On Monday Greencastle lost at Danville in four sets on Monday, 25-22, 25-20, 15-25, 25-21.

Miller led the team with six kills and five blocks in that match, followed by five kills from Lenihan. Stoltey had 25 assists and 15 digs. Junior Delanie Stoltey had nine digs and Thomas had two aces.

GHS plays North Putnam on Thursday, beginning with a JV match at 6 p.m.
