County Jail

A number of people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:10 a.m. on Friday, Scott Anthony Parker, 29, Avon, was arrested for criminal trespassing.

At 8:45 a.m. Timothy Michael Parker, 25, Greencastle, was held at the jail for contempt of court.

At 1:40 p.m. Michelle Renee Pettit, 39, Greencastle, was charged with possession of marijuana.

* At 2 a.m. Saturday, John Ryan O'Neal, 31, Terre Haute, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 4 a.m. Maxwell T. New, 24, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 6:20 p.m. Paul Michael Allender, 44, Stinesville, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

* At 2 a.m. on Sunday, Zachery Robert Schoen, 20, Rochester, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and for being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

* At 2:43 a.m. Monday, Ronald Wayne Cottrill, 29, Greencastle, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of four syringes.

City Police

Allegedly loading a shopping cart with almost $450 worth of merchandise and wheeling it out of Walmart without paying has landed a pair of Greencastle residents in the Putnam County Jail.

At 1:35 a.m. Saturday, Officer Kyle Lee arrested Shelby Skirvin, 19, and Joseph Aton, 21, lodging them in the county jail on theft charges.

Lee reportedly nabbed the pair in the parking lot with a cart filled with miscellaneous groceries and housewares, along with a sock monkey, dog toys, magazines, a kitchen rug, chair pad and a mattress pad.

Total value of the stolen items was listed at $447.09.

One minor property-damage accident Friday morning involved a Greencastle Community School Corporation bus, Officer Ed Wilson reported.

The 2009 Bluebird school bus, driven by Michelle Hunsicker, 42, Greencastle, clipped a parked car as it turned the corner at Vine and Jacob streets.

The car, a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo, is owned by Becca Mason, Fillmore, and was legally parked on the street, police said.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

One traffic citation was issued recently by city officers.

-- At 8:13 p.m. Sunday, Jeramy Bushong, 26, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Lee at Indianapolis Road and Fifth Street for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 7 a.m. Friday, Eugene D. Grable, 57, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 300 South, just east of County Road 250 West, in a 2012 Ford truck registered to Duke Energy when he hit a deer.

Lt. Donnie Pettit estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7 a.m. on Saturday, Lynn Wagner, 61, Coatesville, was westbound on Right-of-Way Road when she was the victim of an apparent hit-and-run collision.

Wagner told Lt. Pettit that she was just east of County Road 675 East in a 2012 Ford Escape when the accident occurred.

She said another vehicle, described as a dark-colored Jeep, attempted to pass her on the left, sideswiping her as it passed.

The Jeep then continued westbound without stopping.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
