Audrey M. May

Audrey M. May, 87, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013.

Born March 22, 1926 in Rockville, she was the daughter of Everett William and Violet Julia (Miller) York.

She married Charles F. May in 1944, and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Audrey was a homemaker and a cook at the Pi Phi Sorority at DePauw University, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Greencastle.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Tina) May of East Peoria, Ill., Darlene (Steve) Wilson of Greencastle, and Deanne (Clark) Atkins of Westfield; seven grandchildren, Tracy Hurst, Rick May, Angie Greene, Becky VandenHoven, Stephanie Wilson, Corbin and Luke Atkins, and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Twomey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Charles May; grandson Andrew May; brothers Duward, Max, Jesse, Doyle, Von, Hubert and Burnard York; and sisters Vivian "Rita" Runnells, Diane and Wanda York.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the funeral home.
