Let There Be Lights

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

The first of 12 new ornamental streetlights -- being installed along Washington Street between Vine and Bloomington streets as part of the streetscape project -- is set in place Tuesday in front of 122 E. Washington St. as Devon Doss of James Drew Corp., Indianapolis, removes the light from a crane operated by Jeremiah Eads. City Engineer Garth Hughes and project engineer Leah Cosgrove, meanwhile, confer on the sidewalk nearby. Installation of the lights, which match those already in service downtown, should take a couple of weeks, Eads said. Installation of the lights will be followed by the addition of 15 street trees along the same corridor.

  • I think that I saw that it has been removed? Hope all is ok with the installation?

  • Will the trees get as huge as those downtown that cover the store fronts and driving vision.
