Girl Scout 'Tent or Treat' event set for Sunday at Robe-Ann Park

Saturday, October 26, 2013

The annual "Tent or Treat" event, sponsored by the Northern Putnam County Girl Scouts, is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27 at Greencastle's Robe-Ann Park.

Costumed children can trick or treat "Girl Scout style," visiting one of the troop tents for Halloween goodies from 4-5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, local Girl Scouts will be collecting cake mixes, icing and candles from trick-or-treaters for a "birthday in a bag" community service project. The Scouts will then donate those ingredients to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry in honor of Juliette Gordon-Low, founder of the Girl Scout movement.

For more information, persons may call Katrina Asher at 522-1571 or via email at kasher@tds.net.

The Girl Scouts are also collecting gently used Halloween costumes with donation boxes available at local schools and the Putnam County Public Library.

Those costumes will be distributed to individuals in need of one at the Tent or Treat event Sunday.
