County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 12:27 p.m. on Friday, Holly Celeste Nussbaum, 48, Greencastle, was arrested for trafficking in a schedule drug (Xanax). Nussbaum was arrested while reporting to serve a weekend in jail.

At 12:40 p.m. David Wayne Brown III, 26, homeless, was charged with visiting a common nuisance and failure to appear.

At 2:20 p.m. Joshua James Wright, 23, Greencastle, was held at the jail for contempt of court.

* At 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Eric Wayne Smith, 41, Greencastle, was booked in for failure to appear.

* At 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Mark Anthony Schultz, 42, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

At 8:58 a.m. Brittany Leann Clodfelter, 26, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 6:17 p.m. on Monday, Shannon Michelle Depew, 29, Coatesville, was held at the jail for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and probation violation.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Daniel Rene Evans, 34, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee on Indianapolis Road near Kentwood Drive for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Evans was initially taken to Putnam County Hospital with a high blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing, and later booked into the Putnam County Jail at 3:50 a.m.

One recent accident was reported by city officers.

-- At 11:56 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at South Locust and East Seminary streets.

David Fraser, 50, Walloon Lake, Mich., had stopped his 2006 Volkswagen Jetta at the four-way stopsign, Sgt. Terry Eastham reported, when the car was struck from behind by a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by John A. Miles, 21, Indianapolis.

Total damage was estimated by Eastham at $5,000-$10,000.

Two recent citations were issued by Sgt. Charles Inman.

-- At 12 a.m. Tuesday, Ashley Karish, 30, Greencastle, was stopped by Inman on North College Avenue.

She was cited for an expired license plate (March 2011) and for having no operator's license when required.

Sheriff's Department

* At 1:20 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, Angela Evans, 35, Greencastle, was parked in the front parking lot at the Putnam County Jail facing south in a 2011 Kia Sedona. Gerald E. Ensor, 73, Greencastle, was eastbound in the parking lot in a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria registered to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Evans told Col. Tom Helmer her view was partially blocked by two parked trucks. Both drivers said they did not notice the other car until it was too late. Ensor said he tried to sound his horn but it was not activated.

Evans backed into the left front of Ensor's car.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

* At 2:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Cynthia K. Ellis, 53, Fillmore, was southbound on County Road 100 East, stopped at U.S. 36 in a 1998 Pontiac Sunbird. Ann Knotts, 51, Bainbridge, was also southbound in a 2010 Honda Accord.

Ellis told Sheriff Steve Fenwick that her engine stopped and when she engaged her clutch to start the car, it began rolling backward.

Knotts said she sounded her horn when Ellis began rolling backward, but the vehicle rolled into her front bumper.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:22 a.m. on Friday, Casey L. Hendrixson, 29, Greencastle, was traveling southeast on County Road 125 South approaching a curve in a 200 Honda CRV.

She told Capt. Danny Wallace she thought her front wheel went off the road and she overcorrected, leaving the roadway and going over an embankment, where it overturned.

Hendrixson complained of elbow and lower arm pain and was transported from the scene by Operation Life.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
