Hendershot's moves across town

With Hendershot's Service Center relocating to 1014 Indianapolis Rd., the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a ribbon cutting. Present for the event were (front, from left) Chamber Executive Director Tammy Amor; Hendershot's owners Greg and Darcy Hendershot; Hendershot's employees Josh Parsons, Eric Wathen and Christina Paul; Diane Priest, PNC Bank; Michael Clampitt, North Salem State Bank; (back) Angie Nichols, Eitel's Florist; Mayor Sue Murray; Bret Hurley of Bret Hurley Construction; Tonya Sanders, WREB; Vicki Parker, North Salem State Bank; and Chamber board member Laurie Hardwick.

Having outgrown its crowded location on North Jackson Street, Hendershot's Service Center has relocated to a much larger location on the city's east side.

After a weekend relocation, Hendershot's reopened on Monday, Oct. 28 at 1014 Indianapolis Rd., the former location of Eastside Motors and Don's Garage.

Owners Greg and Darcy Hendershot recently welcomed Chamber of Commerce members to a ribbon cutting prior to Monday's opening of the new location.

After 7-1/2 years in business, Greg said the business has "exceeded our expectations," necessitating the move.

The move should make things run a bit more smoothly for Greg and his employees, who have been operating in cramped conditions as the business has continued to grow in recent years.

With a building with more than five times the space, Greg commented he won't have to work on cars outside any longer.

Even customers are excited about the move, with some even saying they have delayed oil changes just to bring the car to the new location.

"It's going to be an adjustment for all of us," Greg said.

Hendershot's is open from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The business can be reached at 653-2600.
