Bridges Out of Poverty session scheduled Nov. 14

Anyone interested in learning more about and becoming involved with the local Bridges Out of Poverty initiative is invited to an overview and poverty simulation on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The sesion will take place at the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Facilitate by Bridges community trainer Beth Pace of Vectren Energy, the seminar begins at 9 a.m.

The training is sponsored by Vectren Energy and the Putnam County Bridges Out of Poverty Steering Committee.

Cost is $15 per person for training and lunch.

The day will begin with a poverty simulation from 9 a.m. to noon in a portion of the program designed to help people better understand the realities of poverty. Participants will role-play the lives of low-income families.

At noon, lunch will be provided by Monical's Pizza.

The Bridges Out of Poverty overview and training will take place from 1-4 p.m. Participants will learn about strategies professionals and communities can use to address poverty.

The Prindle Institute is located at 2961 W. CR 225 South, Greencastle, which is just west of the Putnam County Highway Department.
