Janice A. Smith, 73, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 in Blanchard, Okla., after a long illness.

She was the daughter of Charles and Isabelle Foxx of Greencastle.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Johnson, and her parents. In 2010 she married Darrel Smith and relocated to Oklahoma.

A 1959 graduate of Greencastle High School, a loyal Tiger Cub, Janice always would share her thoughts on basketball and life in a small town.

During her early adult years, she worked at Mason Jewelers, DePauw University and Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.

In 1995 she and her husband Ron relocated to the Sunshine State to enjoy their retirement and two granddaughters.

Janice is survived by her husband Darrel; a son, Charles "Chuck" Johnson and wife Dena (Lasley) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Kaye and Kendal both of West Palm Beach; a brother Frank of Sebring, Fla.; and four stepchildren, Marcia Orr, Beth Soward, Laura Clark and Forest Smith, all of Oklahoma.

Janice was a loving person, a wonderful grandmother and brought to the lives of those who knew her, happiness and joy. She will be missed by many.

Graveside services will commemorate the life of Janice on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
