Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to a pair of property-damage accidents on Wednesday.

* At 8:05 a.m. John E. Green, 47, Reelsville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2007 Ford Econoline when he struck a deer.

Col. Tom Helmer estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:37 p.m. Tonya L. Boggs, 35, Fillmore, was northbound on County Road 500 East in a 2006 Chevrolet HHR when she was apparently run off the road by an unknown vehicle.

Boggs told Deputy Josh Boller that while approaching a hillcrest, she noticed a large, dark truck southbound in her northbound lane.

To avoid the accident, Boggs went off the road, hitting a sign and a utility pole.

She and her son sustained minor injuries caused by the airbags deploying.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Police

One minor property-damage accident was investigated Tuesday afternoon by Greencastle City Police.

The mishap occurred at Calbert Way and State Road 240 as Ina Torr, 66, Greencastle, was stopped at the stoplight northbound, driving a 2005 Pontiac Montana, when her van was truck from behind by a 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by Phyllis Cox, 80, Greencastle.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Cox had stopped her vehicle but her foot apparently slipped off the brake, allowing the car to roll into the Torr vehicle.

Total damage in the 2:35 p.m. accident was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Meanwhile, in other GPD reports, a 21-year-old Greencastle woman will be summoned into court after Officer Ed Wilson stopped her on Seminary Street at 6 p.m. Nov. 7.

Kayla McAlister faces a charge of possession of marijuana under 30 grams in the incident.

Two people were cited Nov. 8 when Officer Matt Huffman stopped their vehicle on Columbia Street, just west of North Jackson Street, about 9:30 p.m.

-- Driver Chanelle Wallace, 30, Greencastle, was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- Passenger Chris-topher Johnson, 35, Lafayette, was cited by Officer Huffman for possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Three recent traffic citiatons were issued by city officers.

-- At 2:04 a.m. Thursday, Zachary Goodwin, 23, Rockville, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 11:34 p.m. Wednesday, Michael Torres, 24, Philadelphia, was cited by Officer Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 2:41 p.m. Tuesday, Brian Waugh, 27, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Mike Hanlon for disregarding an automatic signal at Indianapolis Road and State Road 240.
