William B. 'Bill' Robertson

William B. "Bill" Robertson, 66, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1947, in Aurora, Illinois, to William B. "Scotty" and Marilyn J. (Lilley) Robertson.

Bill graduated from Aurora West High School. He attained the rank of "Life" Boy Scout, and was an avid sailor. He was acting captain for his sailboat charters and traveled the world via awards trips through Chrysler.

He graduated from Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music in 1974. His love of music continued throughout his life and he played bassoon in the Brazil Concert Band, Indianapolis Wind Symphony and Indianapolis Symphonic Band.

Bill worked in the car industry much of his life. He worked at various dealerships in Wisconsin, California and Indiana, beginning in sales, and quickly promoted to management and ownership. Between 1980 and 1984, he raced in the Bilstein series.

He married Karen K. Temple in 1979; they were married until 2002. Their son Scott was born in 1982, and their daughter Stephanie joined the family in 1985.

The family purchased a small Chrysler dealership in Greencastle in 1992. It grew into Bill Robertson Motors, a 5-Star dealership with 30 employees. Bill sold the business in 2005 to pursue online parts sales.

He married Linda (Sparks) Robertson in 2006. They traveled with their online businesses until 2011, when they settled in San Tan Valley, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Scott (wife Olivia), and Stephanie (fiancé Drew Alderson); siblings Caroline Peterson (husband Larry, son Andrew), Gordon Robertson (wife Virginia, daughters Jessica and Lisa), Tom Robertson and David Robertson (wife Megan, daughters Rachel and Grace); and lifelong friend Rik Knablein.
