Motorist helps, then leaves, after causing traffic mishap

A Spencer man must have been left with a mix of appreciation and anger at a fellow motorist following a recent auto accident in western Floyd Township.

Having run 22-year-old Taylor Wurr off the road, the unnamed good samaritan stopped to help, even giving Wurr a lift before turning bad samaritan and speeding off without identifying himself.

Wurr told Deputy Mike Downing of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department that he was northbound on County Road 480 East in his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado when he met the other vehicle.

The southbound white Ford flatbed reportedly crossed left of center, forcing Wurr off the roadway. This caused Wurr's truck to crash through the guardrail of a bridge and into an eight-foot ditch, landing on the passenger side.

The other driver then stopped to help Wurr, even dropping him off at a nearby house.

However, the driver of the Ford then drove off before Wurr could gather any information.

Wurr reported no injuries, and Downing estimated damage to be between $5,001 and $10,000.
