Doyle K. Chiles

Doyle K. Chiles, 80, of Brazil, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Union Hospital following a short illness. His loving family was by his side.

He was born May 31, 1933 in Putnam County, the son of Claude Fay Chiles and Edna Cone Chiles. Mrs. Chiles passed away and his stepmother, Anna Soltis, raised Doyle.

He attended Bridgeton School and as a young man served in the U.S. Army.

On June 6, 1955 Doyle was united in marriage to Myrna Dunivan Chiles.

He worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and horses. He trained horses at one time. He had a gift of music and was an accomplished guitar player who was self-taught.

He also enjoyed singing with others at church. He and Myrna are members of Calvary Baptist Church and had attended Victory Christian Church.

Survivors include his dear wife Myrna Chiles of Brazil; three children, Tina Coley (Dan) of Bowling Green, Rowdy Chiles and Rod and Tracy Chiles, all of Brazil; eight grandchildren, Curtis Coley (Heather), Carrie Davis (Adam), Kayla Chiles (Greg Sanders), Emily Lumdson (Jared), Hannah Savill, Faith Chiles, Ryder Chiles and Tristan Chiles; 10 great-grandchildren, Lyndsay, Daniel, Daphne, Mollie, Caiden, Caleigh, Chase, Jaxon, Mavrie and Rylan; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Elsie McNeff (Jim); and two brothers, Bob Chiles (Jean) and Don Chiles (Georgia).

At his request, cremation will take place with burial at Brick Chapel Cemetery on Monday at 3 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Calvary Baptist Church, 526 S. Murphy Ave., Brazil.
