Claude W. Barker

Claude W. Barker, 96, of Roachdale, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Mill Pond Health Campus at Greencastle.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1917 to Roy and Lora O. Eggers Barker.

He graduated from Roachdale High School in 1936.

Claude was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church a life member of the Optimist Club.

He was a farmer and had owned and operated the Roachdale Hotel for 27 years, Barker Billiards in Roachdale for 35 years and owned and operated a construction company where he built pole barns and did fencing for 35 years.

He is survived by one son, Ronald (Robin) and his wife Cynde Barker of Roachdale; three grandchildren, Jerry Lee Gordon and wife Jill, Tiffany Nicole Mitchell and husband Jeff, and Jesse Madison Barker and wife April; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Roachdale Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Rev. David Bower will officiate with burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.
