County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, Heather Brooke Norton, 35, Ladoga, was booked in on two counts of probation violation.

* At 1:16 a.m. on Friday, Pierre Armond Shaw, 33, East St. Louis, Ill., was arrested for operating while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent.

* At 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, Robert Lee Carter, 28, Bainbridge, was charged with conversion and false informing.

At 12:45 a.m. Michael Adam McElwee, 30, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and reckless driving.

At 3 a.m. Josiah Oliver, 32, Pensacola, Fla., was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 10:45 a.m. Herbert Teal, 55, no city listed, was charged with failure to appear.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 2:58 a.m. Sunday, Eric Ryan Hunter, 24, Greencastle, was arrested at a Castlebury Apartments residence by Sgt. Chris Jones.

Hunter was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of battery, disorderly conduct and a Putnam County warrant for contempt of court/failure to appear.

* At 2:04 p.m. Saturday, Claude Eugene Grimes, 48, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Mike Hanlon at his South Locust Street apartment after allegedly entering another apartment on the same premises.

Grimes was lodged at the jail on charges of residential entry, public intoxication, intimidation, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Under blood-alcohol content (BAC) testing, Grimes registered a .29 percent BAC.

* At 2:44 a.m. Saturday, Darren Keith Hudson, 43, Indianapolis, was arrested at Casey's General Store on Bloomington Street by Officer Kyle Lee.

Hudson was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, intimidation-law enforcement and possession of marijuana.

He was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

A one-car accident was reported at 10:20 a.m. Sunday on North Arlington Street near Shadowlawn Avenue,

Laura Waldron, 52, Greencastle, was northbound on Arlington Street, driving a 2002 Saturn, when for unknown reasons she lost control of the car, which left the roadway, ran over a curb and rolled over two large boulders in the yard at 328 N. Arlington St.

Officer Darrel Bunten estimated total damage in the mishap at $2,500-$5,000.

Waldron, who reportedly lost consciousness in the accident, was taken to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life ambulance.

Sheriff's Department

At 6:07 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, John J. Carpenter, 25, Reelsville, was southbound on County Road 350 West in a 2005 Toyota Camry.

He told Capt. Danny Wallace that as he was rounding a curve, another vehicle crossed over the centerline.

To avoid the collision, Carpenter reportedly drove off the road, hitting an embankment.

Carpenter suffered minor facial bleeding.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
