Illuminating Lights of Love

The lighting of the community Christmas tree on the north side of the Putnam County Courthouse and the arrival of Santa Claus provide the highlights of the 29th annual Greencastle Civic League Lights of Love ceremony Monday night. With the tree dedicated to the memory of Keith Carr, 21-year-old son of Mark and Julie Carr, Greencastle, his sister Makenzie and cousin Kamrin Holley do the tree-lighting honors alongside Santa.

Whitney Brotherton, a longtime friend of Keith Carr, recalls how both his friendship and his tragic June 11, 2013 death from an accident in Rome have impacted her life.

Prior to the lighting, the DePauw University Chamber Singers entertain with holiday music.
