"I am honored to serve as chairman of the Health and Medicaid Subcommittee," Rep. Baird said, "and as a home health care business owner, I understand that there are many changes currently taking place that financially impact businesses and Hoosier families."

In addition to his new appointment, Rep. Baird will continue to serve as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and the Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation.

"In this new capacity," Baird added, "I look forward to combining what I know with input gathered from experts, colleagues and constituents to make informed decisions, within the confines of fiscal responsibly, that benefit Hoosier families."

Speaker Bosma announced updates to House Republican committee assignments after two new members joined the caucus and changes have been made to several key positions.

Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
