Fred 'Mac' Nicholls

Fred "Mac" Nicholls, 87, Poland, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Mill Pond Health Campus at Greencastle.

He was born Jan. 11, 1926 at Brazil, and was the son of the late Fred and Olive (Whitaker) Nicholls.

He was married to Edith Lucille (Johnson) Nicholls on June 17, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2008.

He was the former owner of Maplehurst Dairy Products in Indianapolis.

He was a member of the Big Walnut Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 132, F & AM, Cloverdale, and the Evansville Valley of the Scottish Rite.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his sons, Fred M. Nicholls and wife Terri, Poland, and David M. Nicholls and wife Karen G., Reelsville; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Bucholz, Gertrude Duncan, Marjorie Emmert, Ruth Elton and Joan Birt, and his brothers, Ted L. Nicholls and John E. Nicholls.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the funeral home, with Masonic memorial services at 7:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
