Cloverdale Lions quite thankful

Thursday, December 19, 2013

To the Editor:

The Cloverdale Lions Club has much to be thankful about this holiday season.

In the past few months they have been busy raising funds. In October they held their annual silent auction.

Donations were sent from all over the state but the biggest supporters were the local businesses.

Some of the contributors are: Cloverdale Drugs, Arby's, Clo-verdale Agri Center, Cloverdale Lumber Co., Dean's Show Pigs, Designer's Den, El Cantarito, Fun Shirts and More, Haywood Auto Sales and Service, Laurie Dillman, Lisa Baker, Marcy's Jewelry, McDonald's, Pizza Spuds and Stixs, Primitive Pleasures Candles, RTM Unique Country, Silver Bell Flowers, Steele's Auto & Wrecker and Chicago's Pizza.

The American Legion was also very gracious in letting us use its space to hold our appreciation dinner and auction.

The Lions followed up this event by holding their first-ever Chili Dinner. Once again, the town of Cloverdale showed its support. The Lions would especially like to thank the Cloverdale Methodist Church for the use of its dining area.

Funds from these events will be used for local scholarships, eye care, dictionaries for third-graders, and many more projects throughout the year.

Once again, thank you.
