County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:05 p.m. Friday, Jesse Dane Burris, 30, Greencastle, was arrested for receiving stolen property and probation violation.

At 10:25 p.m. Jerry Miller, 51, Greencastle, was charged with two counts of failure to appear.

* At 1:28 a.m. on Sunday, Mark Thomas Monnett, 50, Cloverdale, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 2:44 a.m. Saturday, David K. Gruener, 26, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Matt Huffman in the Vine Street parking lot for public intoxication.

Gruener, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, registered a .134 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing.

One minor accident was investigated Friday afternoon by city officers.

-- At 12:31 p.m., a two-vehicle mishap was reported at the Avenue B entrance of Long John Silver's.

Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that Gail Daniel, 61, Coatesville, was waiting for traffic to clear before pulling onto Avenue B when her 2003 Ford Taurus was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Shaun Pyle, 33, Crawfordsville.

Pyle was reportedly turning left into the Long John's lot when his truck struck the right side of the Daniel car as he turned into a parking space.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

One recent traffic citation was issued by Officer Huffman.

-- At 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Kimberly Abbott, 27, Greencastle, was ticketed at Vine and Washington streets for being an operator never licensed.

Sheriff's Department

* At 8:39 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, Valerie L. Human, 46, Roachdale, was southbound on County Road 250 East just south of County Road 800 North in a 2008 Chevrolet HHR.

Human lost control of the vehicle on the slick road, going into a ditch and hitting a tree.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:37 a.m. Sunday, Angela M. Murphy, 36, Terre Haute, was eastbound on Interstate 70 near the 46.5-mile marker in a 1997 Honda Civic. Johnathan R. McNeil, 21, Indianapolis, was also eastbound in a 1996 Buick Century.

McNeil said he was approaching Murphy's vehicle from behind when she slowed suddenly. He told Deputy Mike Downing he swerved left to avoid the crash but it was too late. He hit Murphy's left rear quarter panel and spun around, coming to rest facing westbound in the median.

Murphy told Deputy Downing she was eastbound when McNeil approached from the rear and hit her car. She was able to pull to the side of the road and call for assistance.

Murphy was rubbing her neck and said it hurt, but declined medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
