Banner Graphic: When did you start playing basketball?
Pat Haggin: I started playing in elementary school. I started, really liked playing and just played it all year 'round. I just worked hard it all the way up until now. It's my last year.

BG: What made you come to DePauw?
PH: It was a school that had excellent academics and an excellent history of basketball. So those two things combined just made it very attractive to me. I looked at a couple other schools and just decided this was the best one.

BG: What's your favorite part of playing for DePauw?
PH: My favorite part is just how close the team is. Everyone loves being together, coming out every day and being with each other and working hard to try to win each game. It's a lot of fun. We just enjoy all the time we put into it.

BG: Do you have any special goals for your senior season?
PH: We're just making sure that we treat every game like it's our last game because it kind of is. It's the last season, so I'm just making the most of every practice, every game and every opportunity that we get, like going to Florida. Just not taking any of those things for granted is what I'm focused on.

BG: How do you balance the vacation-aspect of being in Florida (for next week's tournament) with the competitive aspect?
PH: It's honestly not too much of a vacation. We practice every day --not all day, but every day -- and we've got two games, so we're down there to win two games. They count on our schedule and they mean a lot to us, so it's not too hard to balance. We take the games really seriously and whatever is left we try to make the most of it.

BG: What else do you do to try to prepare yourself besides the evening practice?
PH: Just the way we eat. You get in the gym when you're not at practice. It's the extra time that you put in that helps. Every little bit that you put in helps prepare you and makes you better for the games.

BG: You've said you're not sure what you're going to do after you graduate. Do you have any ideas?
PH: I'm in the process of figuring that out. ... I might try to pursue a career in athletics. I don't know what that might be. Working for a university athletic program or a professional sports team I think might be interesting, so we'll see.
