M. Pauline Collings, 87, of Zionsville, passed away at St. Vincent Hospice on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

Pauline was born in Russellville on April 27, 1926 to Leland Gooding and Naomi Sutherlin Gooding, both of whom preceded her in death along with her older brother, Austin Gooding.

She is survived by Duane, her husband of 69 years, and her younger brother, Robert (Mary) Gooding of Crawfordsville, as well as two sons, Gary (Kathy) of Zionsville and Steve (Susie) of Micanopy, Fla.

She is the grandmother of Graig (Krista) Collings of Zionsville, Dayne Collings of Indianapolis, Wendi Jerald (Brad) of Ocala, Fla., and Aimee Sutherland (Nick) of Gainesville, Fla. Her four great-grandchildren are Camden and Cylar Collings, Maddi Jerald and Noah Sutherland.

Pauline met her future husband as a senior at Waveland High School when working as a server at Turkey Run Park Inn. She traveled by train to Sioux Falls, S.D., to be married on May 21, 1944 to an Army Air Corps soldier in radio operator school.

Pauline was a homemaker, caregiver and long-time resident of Roachdale, where she raised her two sons and made her lifetime friends.

Visitation will be conducted at the Roachdale Christian Church on Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m.

Burial will follow at Roachdale Cemetery with Rev. Alan Hughes officiating.
