Chamber Citizen of Year nominations deadline approaching next week

Deadline is fast approaching to nominate that special someone who has made a difference in the local community as the 2013 Putnam County Citizen of the Year.

Anyone wishing to make a nomination for Citizen of the Year is encouraged to do so by the end of the business day on Monday, Jan. 6.

The winner will be announced during the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce's annual membership dinner on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport off Ballard Lane.

The Chamber is seeking that special individual dedicated to the success of Putnam County to receive its prestigious award. Selection is based upon the degree to which the individual has made Greencastle and Putnam County a better community in which to live, work and raise a family.

A nominee must be a Putnam County resident for five or more years and have given extended service to the community in more than one area.

The 2013 winner will succeed Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry Director Judy Miller, the 2012 winner.

Nominations can be made on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of plain paper. Include the nominee's name, address and the reason in detail for his or her nomination. The Chamber also needs the name, address and phone number of the person or persons making the nomination.

Neither the nominees nor the individual making the nomination have to be members of the Chamber of Commerce.

Entries may be mailed or hand delivered to the Chamber of Commerce office at 16 S. Jackson St., Greencastle. However, nominations will not be accepted over the phone, by word of mouth or via e-mail or fax.
