The Cougar co-ed swim team split the official swim meet with the Danville Warriors on Saturday morning, but won the Snow Ball Relay after the meet. The North Putnam boys (9-1) defeated the Warriors 94-82, with the NPHS girls (5-6) fell 124-45.

The meet was culminated with a 100-yard co-ed relay where the athletes had to keep a snowball safe while swimming.

"The meet was a good culmination to our holiday training," NPHS coach Tony Gray said.

Members of the girls' team swam some unique events against Danville, with Autumn Wolf in the 200 Back, Sam Freije in the 50 Back, and Lauren Freije in the 50 Breast.

Normally, the only distances for those races are 100 yards.

"The girls had fun today and swam well," Gray said.

The lone win by the girls was in the 200 free relay by the team of Nikita Miller, Lauren Freije, Rebecca Muse, and Elizabth Alford.

"Top individual swims of the day on the girls side goes to Samantha Freije, with her breakout swim in the 100 Backstroke, and Nikita Miller in the 200 IM," Gray said.

Picking up individual wins for the Cougar boys were Jonah Creamean in the 200 free, Trevor Troyer in the 100 fly, Joe Davis in the 100 breast and Dane Gray in the 200 IM.

Combining to win the 200 medley, and 400 free relays were Gray, Troyer, Creamean, Nick Kaufman and Bailey Allen.

"Top individual swims for the boys go to Joe Davis in the 100 breast, and Dane Gray in the 500 free," Gray said. "I was very happy with how we competed today.

"The kids are tired, we're swimming off events, but still managed to compete and get a win."

The Cougars are in action Tuesday at North Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. before competing in the West Central Conference meet on Saturday.
