Spend an afternoon with the raptors Jan. 11 in Greencastle

Looking for a bit of inspiration after the post-holiday letdown?

On Saturday, Jan. 11 a free 2-4 p.m. program, sponsored by the Big Walnut Bird Club, may be just the thing.

Several live raptors (large birds of prey, including hawk and eagles) will be brought to Greencastle from the Hardy Lake Raptor Center near Scottsburg in southern Indiana.

Hardy Lake is the only DNR property with a raptor rehabilitation center. The center cares for injured raptors and educates visitors about Indiana's hawks, owls, falcons and vultures.

The program will take place at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church (just north of the Putnam County Playhouse) on Round Barn Road. It is free and open to the public.

Anyone who would like more information about this event may call Allen Beals at 653-2652.

Further information on the Raptor Center and the programs they offer can be obtained by calling 812-794-2244.
