State treasurer candidate Don Bates to address Defenders of Liberty Monday

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Don Bates Jr., a Republican candidate for state treasurer, will be the featured speaker at the January meeting of the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, 102 Ballard Lane, Greencastle.

The public is invited to this and all monthly meetings of the group.

Bates, a financial adviser and Hoosier native, placed his name in nomination for state treasurer on Nov. 5 at the Statehouse.

Involved in finances for 17 years and a small business owner in Richmond, Bates is hoping to have the opportunity to "defend Hoosier values, protect Hoosier taxpayers, and be a trustworthy leader."

Bates lives in Winchester with his wife, Amy, their two young sons and five-month-old twins.

He ran for a seat in the U. S. House of Representatives in the 6th District in 2012.
