Donald L. King

Donald L. King, 78, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014.

Born Nov. 23, 1935 in Putnam County, he was the son of Oscar and Ruby Fern (Hill) King.

He married Patsy (Gibbs) King, and she preceded him in death.

Don had been a custodian with the Greencastle School Corporation and DePauw University. He retired from Oxford Automotive, where he worked as a security guard.

He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Putnamville.

Survivors include his daughters, Kelley (Larry) Kelley and Debbie (David) Killian; sons Donnie King and fiancé' Linda, Darby King and Dustin King; brothers Oscar (Marcia) King, Harvey (LaConda) King and Robert (Charlotte) King; sisters Sharon (Harold) Gregory, Sue (John) Head, Audean (Bob) Rumley and Pat (Jack) Bond; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; a son Scott Franklin King; brothers Edgar, Lee, Frank, Gary and Jerry King; his sisters, Mary Phillips, Shirley Begley and Karen Jean King.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20 at the Hopkins~Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow with military rites at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service.
