Greencastle's All-American Karate Academy and Fitness has put together a team -- in memory of Greencastle firefighter Pat Carrico -- to climb the Indianapolis Chase tower on March 8.

The event is a "Fight for Air Climb" that is either a 47-, 94- or 141-floor stair climb.

Participants must raise a minimum of $100 in order to climb. Funds raised will go to the American Lung Association.

Also scheduled is a proceeds night at Charlie's Beefcake Burgers on Tuesday, Feb. 4 with 15 percent of all bills going toward this cause.

Persons also may support the cause by either donating to the team or joining them in the climb. Anyone can donate or join the team.

Local residents recall that Carrico, a longtime member of the Greencastle Fire Department, passed away last month. In his memory, the climb team has been started through the All-American Karate Academy and Fitness to honor him with the March 8 event.

The cost is $25 to register plus T-shirt cost. Participants then have to raise $100 in donations and sponsorships.
