Gary Lee Horn

Gary Lee Van Horn, 48, of Harmony, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Putnam County Hospital.

Gary was born Oct. 7, 1965, in Lebanon, Ind., the son of Larry Wayne and Gayla (Smith) Van Horn.

Gary graduated from Greencastle High School in 1985. He worked at Putnam County Comprehensive Services in Greencastle.

Gary enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting and was known to love the outdoors. He especially loved bird and squirrel watching, IU basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louie and Leatha (Miller) Van Horn, and maternal grandparents, Wesley and Thelma (Bender) Smith.

He is survived by his parents, Gayla and Larry Van Horn; siblings, Terry Van Horn and wife Laura, Keven Van Horn and wife Trisha, Kim Cundiff and husband Doug, Lon Van Horn and fiancé Melinda; nieces and nephews, Hannah Van Horn, Eric Van Horn, Jordan Van Horn, Tyler Davies, Kyle Popovich, Cody Van Horn and Brooke Cundiff; great-nephew, Mason Van Horn; as well as many aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 at the funeral home.

The family has requested everyone wear their IU or red and white attire for visitation and funeral services.
