MARSHALL -- Early defensive pressure Saturday gave Cloverdale a quick start and a lead it did not relinquish in a 20-point win at Turkey Run, 74-54.

Through an intense full court press, the Clovers (14-1, 5-0 WCC) parlayed Warrior turnovers into a 13-point lead after the first quarter and a 22-point lead at the half.

"We were pleased," coach Pat Rady said. "We started off with our press and turned that into 12 or 13 turnovers in the first half."

Playing in front of a homecoming crowd, Turkey Run (1-14, 0-5 WRC) opened the second half on fire and made a run at the Clovers.

"They (Turkey Run) came out in the second half and made a great run," Rady said. "We called timeout and the kids settled down. I thought that was a great sign."

Responding after the timeout, Cloverdale had the lead back to 19 points after three quarters at 58-39.

With the game all but out of reach in the fourth, the Clovers outscored the Warriors 16-15 for the 20-point victory.

Clover freshman Cooper Neese led all scorers with 31 points. Junior Marquise Moore added 17 and fellow junior Brantson Scott scored 11. Senior Kedrick Collett just missed double figures with nine.

"I thought we had good balance because we had three in double figures -- almost four," Rady said. "Turkey Run plays very hard and is very well coached. And it was homecoming so they were very fired up."

Dewey Ashley led the Warriors with 13 pionts, followed by Jacob Budd with 10.

The Clovers forced 22 Warrior turnovers while committing just 10 of their own.

"We're pleased with the low turnovers," Rady said. "Overall it was a good night."

Defensively, Neese and Moore each had four steals, while Scott blocked four shots, to go with his game-high 15 rebounds.

With tournament season on the horizon, the Clovers enter a busy stretch.

"Now we have to get ready to play Thursday and Saturday this week, and then we go Tuesday, Friday, Saturday," Rady said. "It's giving us several games in a couple weeks, and that's what you have to do in the sectional."

The Clovers host Southmont at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and remain home for a 7:30 p.m. tip with Rockville on Saturday.
