Monday, February 17, 2014

The Area 30 Career Center Board met for a short meeting on Tuesday morning, during which it discussed several updates to programs as well as upcoming events.

Executive Director Lora Busch started off the meeting by gaining approval to add computer illustrations and graphics as well as graphic imaging technology to the program inventory for 2104-15.

"These are courses that will fulfill the pathway for interactive media that we have already started," Busch said. "It gives us options of what we choose to teach by adding it to our inventory"

Busch also received approval to apply for three grants, through the Putnam County Community Foundation, the Works Council and the Center for Education and Career Innovation and Subaru of Indiana American Foundation. All will work toward the W.I.R.E.D. program.

"These are all in support of the W.I.R.E.D. program that we hope to add," Busch said. "We're working every angle that we can work to get extra funding."

Area 30 will also soon be working with members of the Putnam County Airport Authority to develop a club that would build an airplane. The projected start date would be in the fall of 2015.

Busch advised that she would provide more information and seek approval at a later date.

The next Area 30 board meeting will be on March 11 at 9 a.m.
