* At 12:45 a.m. on Friday, Gleb S. Romanovsky, 39, Sandy, Utah, was westbound on Interstate 70 in the right lane in a 2010 International semi tractor-trailer registered to E and I Trucking. Dong Jiazhen, 69, Carmel, was also westbound in the passing lane in a 2012 Honda Civic.

Romanovsky told Col. Tom Helmer he was traveling approximately 55 mph when Jiazhen passed him. Jiazhen then lost control on the snow-covered road, spinning and sliding into the semi's path of travel.

The semi struck the car, spinning it around so that Jiazhen's Honda came to rest facing east. Romanovsky's semi came to rest against the right side of the car, trapping Jiazhen inside.

Jiazhen was extricated and transported to Putnam County Hospital with neck and back pain.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 1:50 p.m. on Friday, a pickup truck was stopped in traffic on U.S. 231 at the County Road 800 South intersection. Duru Alper, 34, Gainesville, Fla., was also southbound in a 1999 Honda Accord.

Alper told Helmer he tried to stop, but slid into the back of the pickup on the snowy roadway. Alper said the pickup driver got out of his vehicle, looked at the back of his pickup and then drove away.

Alper was unable to get the plate number due to snow on the rear bumper.

He reported no injuries but his vehicle had to be towed for disabling damage.

Damage was estimated $2,501-$5,000.
