Third South Putnam Alumni Banquet planned for April 12

Friday, February 21, 2014

The third South Putnam Alumni Banquet is being planned by the South Putnam Community Education Foundation and the Alumni Banquet Committee.

The Alumni Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, beginning at 6 p.m. at the South Putnam High School cafeteria. A tour of SPHS and a social hour at 5 p.m. are planned.

The classes of 1973 and 1988 will be honored along with the selection of the South Putnam Hall of Fame honorees.

The committee is requesting Hall of Fame nominee applications be sent via email to Anita Bartley Ferrand at anitaferrand@yahoo.com. Email the name, contact information and a brief description of the nominee's accomplishments since their graduation from South Putnam by March 1.

The committee's goal is to recognize graduates who have made a positive difference in the world, the United States, Indiana or just in Putnam County.

The banquet will also feature a new award to recognize outstanding teachers and administrators who have retired from the South Putnam school system.

The process will begin with a Hall of Fame selection style utilizing the South Putnam Alumni Facebook site. On the site alumni will be asked to vote for as many outstanding retired teachers as they wish to be honored. Those receiving at least 50 percent of the voters' support will be forwarded to a selection committee that will make the final decision.

The Foundation will also present the 2014 SPCEF Scholarship winner, the Teacher Grant winner, and the 2014 recipient of the Wildman Leadership Scholarship during the banquet.

Anyone wishing to serve on a committee to prepare for the banquet is asked to contact Anita Ferrand at the above email address or contact Steve Cash at spcash@tds.net.

The committee is preparing a registration form to be sent to all graduates who attended the 2012 and 2013 banquets and the members of the class of 1973 and 1988.

If you would like to make sure you or any family member receive an invitation/registra-tion form, contact either of the names listed above.
