'Up the Down Staircase'

South Putnam High School will present Bel Kaufman's "Up the Down Staircase" at 7 p.m. both Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1. Tickets are $5. "Up the Down Staircase" is a funny and touching story of an idealistic teacher whose clash with school bureaucracy is a timeless lesson for students, teachers and parents. The play, from the book by Kaufman, will feature the following South Putnam cast (front, from left) Chloe Maginity, Ian Douglass, Eli Harris, Noah Ryan Taylor, Sammy Batchelor and Josh Metcalf. Middle row: Angel Nield, Katie McHugh, Jake Carmichael, Sam Russell, Cora Neudeck, Deborah Cheatham and Kristine Wood.
