CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Community School Corporation has announced that it has received a $2,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant.

The support from CVS Caremark will help CCSC host a free weekly fitness class.

The Community Grants Program was created by CVS Caremark as part of its commitment to help people achieve their best health by providing financial assistance to programs that are focused on wellness and prevention.

CCSC will be offering free fitness classes, consisting of cardio and strength training. Classes will be at 1 p.m. every Saturday, beginning Feb. 22 at the Cloverdale High School.

The Clover Power Hour will be taught by certified local instructors and is open to the public. The program is for men as well as women and is suitable for all fitness levels.

"We are very excited to be able to offer, with the help of CVS, this free fitness opportunity for our community. The CVS Community Caremark Grant will allow us to provide the necessary equipment and certified instructors for the Cloverdale Power Hour. Our goal is to promote the link between exercise opportunities and improved overall health," Lisa Baker RN, CCSC Student Health Advisory Council chairman, said.

For more information about the Clover Power Hour persons may contact Baker at 795-4203, ubaker@cloverdale.k12.in.us or Traci Scott at tscott@cloverdale.k12.in.us.

CCSC was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2013 application process. Grants were awarded to programs offered in a community or public school setting that help build healthy habits such as chronic disease management, nutrition and exercise and health screenings.

"As a pharmacy innovation company, we are committed to building healthier communities," Eileen Howard Boone of CVS Caremark said. "We believe one of the keys to helping people on their path to better health is by providing wellness and prevention programs.

"We are pleased to support the work that CCSC does in the community and we look forward to working with them in fulfilling their program's mission."
