Cloverdale Christian Church to host share the dress giveaway
CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Christian Church will be hosting its second annual Share the Dress event on Saturday, March 8 and 15, from 1-4 p.m.
More than 200 new and used dry cleaned dresses will be available to any junior or senior needing a dress for their prom. All that is required is a school-issued student ID card to obtain a free dress.
The project began in September 2012, when the women of Cloverdale Christian Church as well as some other local women began collecting used and new prom dresses and accessories.
"We were blessed with many cash donations in addition to the dresses, shoes and jewelry we received," Sandy McCloud said. "Local businesses were also very generous with donations for door prizes to giveaway also. The church basement was transformed into the 'Blessings Boutique' and Sunday school rooms became fitting rooms, where over 45 young ladies from seven different high schools came to shop for dresses and accessories free of charge."
Like last year, there will also be a fundraiser to keep the program going at the Coatesville Community Center on June 21 from 1-4 p.m.
Seating is limited and tickets need to be purchased in advanced at a cost of $10 per person.
Tickets will be available May 1 at the Cloverdale Agri Center, Eitel's Florist or by contacting McCloud or Sherri Kroger.
To donate or purchase tickets contact McCloud or Kroger at 721-2631 or 720-5026.
