DePauw men's tennis loses to NC Wesleyan, beats Kenyon

ATLANTA -- On Friday, DePauw men's tennis moved to 11-3 on the season following a 5-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan at the Emory Invitational.

The Battling Bishops dropped to 7-5.

Sam Miles and Ben Kopecky took an 8-6 win over Mikhail Konnov and Peter Hviid at first doubles, while Eric Vannatt and Alec Kaczkowski were also 8-6 winners over Eduardo Ugalde and Elias Kerem at number two.

DePauw's third doubles team of Patrick Farrell and Harold Martin completed the doubles sweep with a 9-7 triumph over Ben Tolhurst and Philipp Vylegzhanin.

DePauw clinched the win in singles with Miles defeating Konnov at the number one spot 6-4, 7-5 and Ben Kopecky taking a 6-0 win in the first set over Hviid before Hviid retired.

DePauw took two of the three doubles matches against ninth-ranked Kenyon Saturday, but the Lords clinched the match with win in four of the singles matches to top to the Tigers, 5-3. DePauw dropped to 11-4 with the loss, while Kenyon improved to 11-5.

Sam Miles and Ben Kopecky picked up an 8-3 victory at first doubles against Tim Rosensteel and Sam Geier, while Patrick Ferrell and Harold Martin defeated Colin Haas and Tristan Kaye at the third spot.

Kopecky picked up DePauw's lone singles triumph be winning at number-two by a 6-2, 6-2 score over Wade Heerboth.

DePauw's match at Case Western Reserve was postponed.
