GCC presents night of movie music

Movie fans will be in for a treat Saturday night at Greencastle Christian Church with a night of Academy Award-winning tunes to be performed by local singers.

The selections will range from winners from the 1930s all the way up through "Let It Go" from the 2013 Disney movie "Frozen."

The 7 p.m. show will be a fundraiser for a summer medical mission trip to Brazil.

The evening will feature songs such as "Over the Rainbow", "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", "High Hopes", "When I Fall in Love", "Because You Loved Me", "Under the Sea", "Beauty and the Beast", "A Whole New World" and "You've Got a Friend in Me".

The event is family friendly and may involve some special appearances of Disney princesses. Little girls are even encouraged to dress as their favorite Disney princesses.

Childcare is available for kindergarten and younger.

Performers include many familiar faces from the Putnam County Playhouse like Ashlee Vitz, Meghan Armitage, Shelly McFadden, Hannah Brattain and Dustin Bond. Lori Miller and Bobbie Lancaster will also perform.

Ten people from GCC will be going on a medical mission trip on the Amazon river in Brazil in June. The group includes three nurses who will help with medical exams and others who will help with the distribution of vitamins and other medicines to remote villages.

A doctor and a dentist will also be aboard the boat.

The event is free of charge, but people are encouraged to bring medical and monetary donations for the trip.

Medical supplies that are needed include:

Vitamins: Children~s (no gummies), adult's, calcium, cranberry pills, saw palmetto, prenatal vitamins, baby vitamins.

Topicals: Muscle rub, antifungal cream, triple antibiotic cream, hydrocortisone cream, cream for diaper rash, cream for burns, acne cream, anti-itch.

Adult pain: Tylenol, ibuprofen, eyedrops.

Children's pain: Infant's and children's Tylenol, children's ibuprofen (liquid).

Gastric: Tums, Antacid for gastritis (ranitidine, Zantac, Prilosec), Pepto Bismol liquid or tabs, anti-diarrheal (Imodium), stool softener, rehydration mix (Pedialite), Gatoraid packets.
