What began as a medical emergency Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old Cloverdale man, Greencastle City Police reported.

Capt. Chris Jones was called to North Indiana Street as first-responder to a reported cardiac arrest at 9:34 p.m.

However, as emergency personnel prepared Aron J. Monnett for transport to the hospital, methamphetamine was reportedly found in his coat pocket.

Consequently, Monnett is facing a possession of meth charge and is also being held at the Putnam County Jail on a Department of Correction warrant for violating the conditions of his release.

In another arrest case, Officer Eric Vaughan jailed Kyal Anthony Campbell, 22, Poland, on a charge of theft. Booked into the Putnam County Jail at 8 p.m. Sunday, Campbell was also held on a Clay County warrant for probation violation.

The theft charge stems from items Campbell allegedly took from Heartland Automotive in Greencastle. He was reportedly stopped as he left the auto parts plant on Warren Drive carrying a paint jacket and a trash bag containing several items belonging to Heartland.

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by City Police officers.

Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that Felicia Barger, 21, Greencastle, was stopped in westbound traffic in a 2009 Mazda when a baby in the back seat screamed and Barger turned to check out the situation.
