23 students initiated into Tri-M at Greencastle Middle School

Thursday, April 10, 2014

The chief aims of the Tri-M Music Honor Society are to foster greater interest in band, orchestral and choral performance and to provide wider opportunities for personal musical expression.

Students are selected for membership in the society on the basis of musicianship, scholarship, character, cooperation, leadership, and service to their school and community. The organization's high standards serve to challenge students to greater effort and achievement and to encourage them in the pursuit of excellence.

In 1983, the Tri-M Music Honor Society became a program of MENC, the Music Educators National Conference. Today, MENC is known as The National Association for Music Education or NAfME, the largest nonprofit association dedicated to the advancement of music education at the national and local levels.

After a recital hour by Greencastle Middle School initiates, the following students were inducted into Tri-M chapter 3540 on Tuesday, April 1: Jada Amis, Kensie Bumgardner, Kaylyn Hankins, Skyla Hart, Tyler Hopper, Addison Hughes, Megan Manning, Abby McGuire, Abby Meyer, Mika Mozawa, Jordan O'Neal, Ben Parsons, Vivian Savage, Allyssa Sharpee, Samantha Spurling, Connor Stimpert, Seelye Stoffregen, Hailey Walden, Gretchen Weliever, Myraze Wilkinson, Emma Wilson, Ivy Wright and Mandy Zheng.
