Wooster beats DPU lacrosse 14-7

Ellie Hudson-Heck's four first half goals paced the Wooster Fighting Scots in a 14-7 victory over the DePauw women's lacrosse team in North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Blackstock Stadium.

With the win, Wooster improved to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, while DePauw dropped to 3-7 on the year and 2-3 in NCAC play.

The Fighting Scots opened up the scoring with a goal just two minutes into the contest. They would score the next two goals before Emily Scinta fired in a pass from Carey Kunz for the Tigers' first goal.

Wooster would score with 19:37 on the clock when Shelby Stone scored on an assist from Ashely Parry. Elizabeth McCracken would counter 36 seconds later on an unassisted strike to make the score 4-2. Kunz would add a goal on an assist from Nicole Gibson with 17:31 left in the half.

The Fighting Scots tallied two goals to extend their lead to 6-3 with 14:41 on the clock. DePauw continued to fight back as Kunz notched her second goal of the half with 11:00 left. Wooster answered with two more goals to make the score 8-4 before the Tigers countered yet again, as Taylor Summers scored on an assist from Scinta with 3:54 left in the half.

Wooster would add one goal before halftime to take a 9-5 lead into the locker room.

Stone opened the second half scoring firing in a free position shot with 25:58 remaining to extend Wooster's lead to five.

Jamie Powell notched the Tigers' first goal of the half on an assist from McCracken with 21:25 left in the contest. The Fighting Scots took control of the game scoring four straight goals over the next 11 minutes to stretch their lead to 14-6.

Scinta would score DePauw's final goal with 1:57 left on the clock on an assist from Powell.

The Tigers were outshot 27-24 on the day, but held a 15-8 edge on draw controls. Liz Hawkins made nine saves as well for DePauw.
