Mother Earth Bike Ride set April 27 with two routes

Sunday, April 20, 2014

The 2014 Mother Earth Bike Ride is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27, starting at shelterhouse No. 1 in Robe-Ann Park.

Cost of the event is $20, which includes a T-shirt with each registration.

Riders will have a choice between a 15-mile or 35-mile route. Bicycle helmets are required.

Pre-registration is preferred, with registration also available the day of the ride. To guarantee a T-shirt participants' registration must be received by April 18.

This year's Mother Earth Bike Ride sponsored by the Greencastle Running and Fitness Club, J's Bikes and the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department with help from volunteer Christina Paul.

Snacks at the SAG stop and the end of the ride will be prepared with the help from the classes at Old National Trail.

Riding is a popular form of exercise, a stress reliever and a way to enjoy the outdoors. But to celebrate Earth Week organizers encourage everyone to "make a statement to reduce our carbon footprint while enjoying a fun and sustainable form of transportation."

Registration forms are available at Greencastle City Hall, the Putnam County Museum, the Putnam County Public Library, Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry, on the Friends of the Park Facebook page or by email from tscott@cityofgreencastle.com, or on line at www.cityofgreencastle.com
