City Council hearing on new Putnam County Housing Authority May 13 at City Hall

Sunday, April 20, 2014

On April 15, 2014 the Putnam County Council adopted a resolution creating the Putnam County Housing Authority. With this adoption, three new board members were appointed to the newly formed housing authority.

James McKee of Cloverdale will represent Cloverdale residents; Angela Thompson of Roachdale will represent Roachdale residents, and Cozette McColgin of Bainbridge will represent Bainbridge residents.

The County Council further adopted a second resolution stating that the newly formed Putnam County Housing Authority would have jurisdiction within the Greencastle Housing Authority.

The next step in the creation of the Putnam County Housing Authority is for the City Council to adopt a resolution allowing the newly formed Putnam County Housing Authority to operate within the jurisdiction of the Greencastle Housing Authority.

A public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. May 13 in accordance with IC § 5-3-1, to consider adopting this Resolution. Public comments and concerns are welcomed at the hearing.

This resolution would allow the newly formed Putnam County Housing Authority to operate within the boundaries of the Greencastle Housing Authority. If accepted by the City Council and the resolution passes, the Greencastle Housing Authority would operate under, or do business as (dba), the Putnam County Housing Authority (PCHA).

This would allow the newly formed PCHA to administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program locally, as opposed to the Indiana Housing and Community Develop-ment Authority (IHCDA) in Indiana-polis to serve Putnam County.

Public comments and concerns should be presented at the City Council hearing on May 13 at 7 p.m.
