Greencastle got back to winning ways on the track Thursday night after winning a pair of meets against Crawfordsville and North Putnam.

"We moved some kids around and made up some relays as some of the kids are tired," Greencastle coach Gary Anderson said. "Overall, we had some bright spots but have some spots that still need improvement. Both teams are young but we had some good performances."

The boys' squad rolled to their first meet win of the season, outpacing second place North Putnam and third place Crawfordsville 85-46-36.

Isaac Harms and Sedrick Weinschenk led the charge for the Tiger Cubs with Harms winning the 800 and 1600-meter hurdles and Weinschenk claiming the 110 and 300-meter hurdles.

Jacob Lewis took top honors in the 400-meter dash while Taylor Secrest won the 3200-meter run and Tanner Wood topped the discus competition. In addition, Greencastle won the 400, 1600 and 3200-meter relay races.

Several of the performers provided big points for the Tiger Cubs according to Anderson.

"Jacob Lewis, Jacob Kessler and Jacob Sanders go 1-2-4 in the 400-meter dash, which is not too bad," Anderson said. "Sedrick Weinschenk is slowly improving on his hurdles times. Isaac Harms is just good. He's just tough."

North Putnam had a pair of double winners as well with Tucker Lowe winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes and Nick Kaufman taking the high jump and long jump. Grant Bryan added a win in the shot put competition for the Cougars.

North Putnam boys' coach Greg Barrett said that the squad showed steady improvement and knocked off several personal bests along the way.

"We had some guys PR in the field events tonight," Barrett said. "We took several firsts tonight along with that. Nick Kaufman had a PR in the high jump tonight and the throwers continued to show improvement. Tucker Lowe also had a great night in the sprints.

"I think things are getting better for us. We've only had a couple of meets and we're going in the right direction. Our field events put in a lot of time and work and the distance kids are coming along nicely. They're all working hard and that's all you can ask for."

In the girls' portion of the meet, Greencastle won 10 of the 16 events to claim a win over second place Crawfordsville and third place North Putnam 75-51-35.

Katerina King picked up three solo wins through the long jump and the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Allison White won the high jump, Corrie Romer placed first in the 400-meter dash, Alex Stoffregen claimed the 800-meter run and Sammy Haynes picked up first in the 3200-meter run.

As with the boys' squad, Greencastle swept the 400, 1600 and 3200-meter relay races.

"We ran a lot of girls in different positions," Anderson said. "It was nice to see Allison White get 4'9" in the high jump. Kat King had a nice night in winning the 100, 200 and long jump and anchoring the 1600 relay. She had a good time in that 200.

"Alex Stoffregen had a nice night and Corrie Romer had a spectacular finish with a diving superman-lunge on to the asphalt. We mixed up events well and the kids had a good night."

North Putnam's sole win of the night came at the pole vault pit through Kayla Clodfelter but head coach Kevin Lutes felt the squad advanced from last week's results.

"I was proud of the girls," Lutes said. "We have a lot of young ones and we mixed up several things tonight. We had some strong places in the shot put and discus tonight.

"For us, everyone was making progress and I was happy with how we did. We have things to work on but we showed a lot of improvement from last week."
