Alta Christine Mason

Alta Christine Mason, 87, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

Born March 15, 1927 in Liberty, Ky., she was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie Lee (Morris) Crawley.

She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Floyd Darrell (Nancy) Short, Carol Phelps, Kathy (Jerry) Morrow, Kenny (Sandy) Short, Donnie (Beth) Short, Robin Dale (Debbie) Short, Angie (Joe) Anvoots, Gloria (Russ) Houston, Barry Mason and Twila (Buddy) Boaz; 30 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Floyd Short and Dwain Mason; son Randall Short; brothers Willie and Raymond; sisters Grace, Irene and an infant sister, Sadie; son-in-law Don Phelps; two grandchildren, Jeremy Phelps and James Nauman; and one great-grandchild, Jacob.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 with Pastor Gerron Ayento officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
