The Putnam County Community Foundation will bring Susan Decker to Greencastle to offer local leaders some tips for making their meetings more productive.

The Community Foundation encourages board members and staff from area nonprofit agencies, churches and units of government to attend Learning Series workshops, which are designed to help them become more effective community leaders.

The workshop is set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. May 13 at the Inn at DePauw in Greencastle.

Decker, the director of the Master of Leadership Development program at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, serves as a senior governance consultant for BoardSource. She has extensive experience training, facilitating and consulting in nonprofit governance, leadership and fundraising.

In describing the workshop, she said, "If you wish your meetings were more productive, or if you talk in circles instead of making a decision, this workshop is for you."

During the workshop, attendees will learn the best practices for planning meetings, preparing for meetings, getting more accomplished at meetings, and making sure all voices are heard.

Coordinated by the Putnam Community Foundation and the Montgomery County Community Foundation, the workshop is sponsored by the Bonner Scholars Program of DePauw University.

Cost of the workshop is $25 (or $15 if registered and paid by May 9). The cost includes the workshop, a catered lunch and all materials.

To register, persons may contact Vicki Kirby in the Putnam Community Foundation office at 653-4978 or vkirby@pcfoundation.org.

The Putnam Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established in 1985 to help donors establish endowments, award grants and provide leadership, enriching the quality of life and strengthening community in Putnam County.
