County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 2:20 p.m. on Friday, John Robert Thomas Jr., 23, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and failure to appear.

* At 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, Kane Miller Barker, 22, North Vernon, was held at the jail for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

At 1 p.m. Kevin Patrick Chambers, 50, Indianapolis, was charged with operating while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

One accident was investigated recently by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

-- At 11:15 p.m. Friday, Scott D. Witty, 41, Bainbridge, was eastbound on Railroad Street in Roachdale in a 2013 Ford Explorer.

Witty told Sgt. Gregg Slover that he slowed to turn south onto North Meridian Street and did not see a utility pole at the intersection, hitting the pole as he was turning south.

The driver was not injured and the pole was not damaged.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

City Police

One property-damage accident was investigated recently by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 8:34 a.m. Friday, the mishap occurred on the McDonald's parking lot on Indianapolis Road as Coleen Clines, 86, Greencastle, backed her 2003 Buick LeSabre from a parking spot near the west entrance.

Capt. Mike Hanlon reported that Clines did not see a 2009 Kia Rio, driven by Kayla Myer, 26, Cloverdale, passing behind her, and backed into the vehicle.

Damage was estimated was at $2,500-$5,000.

One recent traffic citation was issued by Sgt. Charles Inman.

-- At 8:15 p.m. May 1, Katherine Jovanovic, 21, St. Charles, Mo., was ticketed at Vine and Poplar streets for disregarding a stopsign.
