After such dominant victories, where the Greencastle softball team could've pitched a tent at home plate, it found nit difficult to hit the ball on Monday against Monrovia. They Tiger Cubs were unable to score and lost 3-0.

"I've said this before," Greencastle coach Dave Keller said. "You will put a lot of pressure on your defense when you don't hit the ball. They were pitching well but in a 3-0 game you've got to play through those. They did play though it and we held it close."

In a game where hits were hard to come by, sophomore Grace Paul recorded the only two for the Tiger Cubs.

"We played a good team and we came within three," Keller said. "If we do the little things. There were maybe four or five instances where we bunted and didn't move the runners. There were two instances where it paid off. In situations like that you have to get the bunt down."

The Tiger Cubs had a second chance at getting down the little things as they played Monrovia again Tuesday.

Keller insists that the team is focusing on the post-season and that these close matches with good teams will help them be prepared for the competition.

"We're playing for (late) May, not right now," Keller said. "We'll come back out with a smile on our face and play again tomorrow (Tuesday)."

Greencastle again couldn't couldn't get the runs to come back from behind. They lost their second game at Monrovia 9-3.
