Annual ISP Memorial Service set Friday morning at Putnamville

PUTNAMVILLLE -- The Putnamville District of Indiana State Police will be conducting its annual Memorial Service on Friday, May 16 beginning at 11 a.m.

Forty-six Indiana State Police employees have been killed in the line of duty since the department was created in 1933.

Two troopers from the Putnamville District have died in the line of duty:

* Sgt. George W. Campbell died on June 18, 1969 of a heart attack while attempting to arrest a truck driver who attempted to pass the former Putnamville District weigh station on U.S. 40.

* Senior Trooper James Patrick Bartram died on March 31, 1998 in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 144 in Morgan County while attempting to stop a speeding motorist.

The service will be conducted in the front parking area at the main entrance to the post along U.S. 40 with services lasting approximately 20 minutes.
